Buying & delivery
Once the winner has claimed, the prize is bought and shipped automatically. Nobody at LOOTBOX picks products, places orders by hand, or handles the winner's address.
Buying
- Products are locked before a drop opens. Each item has a fixed retailer product ID (an Amazon ASIN) and a price cap, both shown on the drop. The order is checked against this list automatically.
- The order is placed through Zinc, a service that places retailer orders by API. It orders the exact locked products, shipped to the winner's address, and refuses to go above the cap.
- It's paid from the treasury. USDC moves on Solana from the treasury to the purchasing account. That transaction is the drop's Paid proof.
Rule
If a product's price rises above its cap, the order isn't placed. The fix (a top-up, or an equal-or-better substitute) is announced publicly before anything is bought.
Delivery
- Tracking numbers come back with the order and are registered with AfterShip, which follows the carrier until delivery.
- Each status change, from shipped to in transit to delivered, becomes a proof. See the 8 proofs.
- Tracking numbers are never published. Carrier pages can show a delivery city or ZIP code, so proofs only include a keyed fingerprint of the number.
- A bundle can arrive in several packages. Each one is tracked.
Rule
At launch, prizes ship to addresses in the United States. Options for winners elsewhere are still being worked out.
When it's done
When everything has arrived, the winner signs one last message with the winning wallet confirming they received it. "Delivered" is the carrier's word. The winner's signature is theirs.
